چکیده

The genus Salacia (Celastraceae: Salaciodeae) in peninsular India is revised, wherein ten species are recognised. Eight endemic to the region. macrophylla and S. reticulata excluded from revision as occurrence of both doubtful mainland India. macrosperma exhibits great variation leaf shape, flower number, pedicel length fruit texture, hence morphologically similar beddomei vellaniana relegated its synonymy. Descriptions, photographs, pen ink well colour drawings all recognised provided with an artificial key, updated nomenclature, Distribution IUCN Red list categories criteria also discussed. Seven binomials, fruticosa, macrophylla, macrosperma, oblonga, ovalis, Tontelea prinoides Johnia coromadeliana lectotypified.
